Purpose of the Book:
1. To show how God delivered His people (Israel) from Slavery
The theme is God goes and delivers his people. Egyptians enslaved Israel
2. To show the origin of the Jewish religion under the Mosaic Covenant
God relates to a whole people group instead of individuals.
Religion - binding together of a system of beliefs
Message of the Book:
1. God reveals himself through natural grace and special grace
Reveals himself without special revelation. pharaoh he revealed himself naturally
Special grace wanting relationship with Israel
2. God is holy and dwells with unholy people to make them holy
There is no compromise on who God is
3. God is supreme over every other god
Pharaoh is connected with the sun god Rah. So God blocks out the sun. God of Frogs so sends frogs, God of the Nile so turns the Nile into blood
Show us God working and continuing to work, molding, shaping and pushing them forward.
