Judgment for Judah’s sin
Chapter 1:12-2:20: God’s justice, Babylon to be Judged (Babylon’s cruelty)

Purpose of the Book:
1. To examine the issue of God’s justice towards the nation
Ethical dilemma
Judah can sin and not care
Babylon not a covenant nation and use it to enact Judgement
Message of the Book:
1. God termites evil but does not cause evil; he’s holy and righteous and punishes sin
He evil he permits is a temporary evil to bring good.. and eternal good
