Obadiah 1:4 ESV

Though you soar aloft like the eagle,

though your nest is set among the stars,

from there I will bring you down,

declares the Lord.

Obadiah 1:15 ESV

For the day of the Lord is near upon all the nations.

As you have done, it shall be done to you;

your deeds shall return on your own head.

If mercy is not chosen he will have vengeance on others.

Structure:

Chapter 1:1-14: Prophecy Against Edom

Genesis Issac has two sons. Jacob steals blessing from Esau and took on the curse. Esau founded Edom

Chapter 1:15-21: The Day of the Lord

Purpose of the Book:

1. To pronounce divine judgment against the nation of Edom for their role in assisting Babylonians in the conquest of Judah to announce God’s restorative plan of the people of Israel

Nothing misses God's eyes… He doesn’t forget the Edomites
