The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,

  • This book is the revelation of Jesus. This book is about Jesus.

Structure:

Chapters 1-3: Vision of the Son of Man among the seven churches

  • When this book was written it was attached to 7 letters to 7 different churches. When the scripture was put together they brought all letters together

  • The last words of Jesus were not on the cross but in Revelation

Chapters 4-19: Vision of the Seven Seals, Trumpets, and Bowls

Chapter 20: Vision of the Return of Christ

  • coming back in full armor to judge the world

  • The first came as a lamb he is coming back as the lion

Chapters 21-22: Vision of the New Heaven and New Earth

  • God is going to recreate His creation because His creation has always been good

Purpose of the Book:

1. To give a revelation of the Lord Christ in the glory of His varied offices

2. To give instruction, encouragement, and rebuke to the seven local churches in Asia

3. To give the universal church a prophetic panorama of events from the 1st to the 2nd coming of Christ.

4. To bring into focus the ultimate conclusion of the plan of redemption

Message of the Book:

1. The Kingdom of God will ultimately and completely triumph over all evil

2. Those who overcome the world, the flesh, and the devil will receive an everlasting reward.

3. True witness must be able to testify of that which he has seen and heard

We get the word witness from the word Martyr.

JESUS IS LORD is the essence of this book.
